We believe that teachers are superheroes that can play a monumental role in the social and emotional development of children! So we created a curriculum around the book for social and emotional learning, which was successfully workshopped in dozens of PreK - 4th Grade classrooms around the country.

The Goal of the Program
The program seeks to foster a healthy relationship between kids and their emotions. It emphasizes that emotions do not control us, and we do not control our emotions. But emotions live inside us all the time, so we need to foster a good relationship with them. The better our relationship with our feelings, the easier it will be to direct them.
We explain that emotions are just messengers, and that they are trying to help us by delivering a message (using rewards or alarms). But since emotions never come alone, it is important to look past the loudest one! Once they have delivered their message, they will have served their purpose and likely quiet down.
In this program:
Students will first learn how to identify emotions - both their own and the emotions of others, and they will learn to look past the most obvious one. They will examine physical cues such as body language and facial expression, then match sound to emotion - leading them to create a playlist of music to reflect each emotion.
Then students will learn how to acknowledge their emotions without judgement, and why that is important.
Next Students will learn the relationship between different emotions, exploring which emotions might be friends.
Lastly students will examine and assess the many different tools that are available to direct their different emotions, and practice applying their new-found knowledge to identify, acknowledge and direct their emotions through simple daily rituals!
Our lessons include everything you will need to engage your students, whether in person, at a distance or even a hybrid setting!
About The Curriculum
The lesson plans are designed for use in PreK-G4 classrooms. They are flexible and can be adopted in full over many weeks or used as a stand alone lesson. Our goal was to make this program:
Simple to implement (complete with teaching materials for in person, remote or hybrid learning)
Engaging and interactive (with Arts integrated activities) so students take ownership in their learning
Effective, with students not only retaining the lesson but also passing it on to their families
