What People Are Saying
The curriculum that goes along with My Mama Says Inside Me Lives a Village connects students to their emotions in so many different ways. Through the diverse and engaging lesson plans, students can take their understanding of emotions to a whole new depth. Not only does this curriculum guide students to acknowledge the emotions they feel, but it teaches them how to handle and direct those emotions. The curriculum reaches a variety of learners, while also encouraging students to explore their own emotions and the emotions of others in many new ways!

“My Mama Says Inside Me Lives A Village is a great book to help children understand that they experience different emotions and that it is okay to feel all of those emotions. Reading this book in my classroom has led to deep and meaningful discussions with my students about how we feel different emotions and what causes each emotion to arise. This book really resonated with my students as they continuously refer back to it by making connections to their own lives and other books we read in class.”
— Olivia Pascente (Teacher at Willow Bend Elementary School, Chicago IL)
“Inside Me Lives a Village inspired so many responses from our St Norbert students. The students explored both as an individual and a community. We are grateful to include this beautiful book in our St Norbert Library”
— Terri Cardile (Librarian at St Norbert School, Philadelphia PA)
“My Mama Says Inside Me Lives A Village was the perfect book to share with our primary grades. This story was relatable to our students and provided a perfect opportunity to discuss emotions and how to handle them. Nadine was a perfect fit for our girls and the kids loved being with her”
