The Little Rap on Anger, karaoke
Sing it, say it, feel it.
In a village by the river, in a house so sweet, Lived an Angry Hippo who stomped his feet. With a huff and a puff, he'd be quick to react, His words are like a punch with enormous impact. He'd grow when somebody did or said Something egregious, an energy spread. His heart would beat faster, like a bouncing ball, His spine would straighten as he grew so tall.
One hot summer day, the Goofy Goat Skidded and tore a note Hippo wrote. Goat failed to notice the mess he'd made Nor Hippo's face with his feelings displayed. Hippo was fuming and seeing red! It stopped him from thinking what words could be said. He stomped so hard, the dust circled around him, A tornado of energy started to drown him.
But the Goofy Goat remained unaware, As he danced around Hippo without a care. It was almost as if the Goofy Goat Was ignoring Hippo and his torn up note. So the Frustrated Parrot came, flapping his wings, That fanned a tornado of other feelings. The Sad, Sullen Pup circled Hippo with tears, And the Scared Penguin amped up his "what if" fears.
The Worried Pig and the Anxious Beaver Arrived with a war cry in a high pitched fever. The Excited Duck and the Determined Bee Also appeared to help Hippo's plea. But this storm of emotion was out of control. It blew this way and that, without a clear goal. The chorus he heard from his well meaning friends Tunneled his vision with a reactive lens.
"Why are you so angry?" the Goat interrupted. "Grrr!!" Hippo screamed as he fully erupted! "You tore my note! It was important to me! And you didn't say sorry, that's why I'm angry!" With that big release, everyone paused. Hippo could see the confusion he'd caused. He stepped back and watched the dust settle down As all his friends suddenly gathered around.
The Goofy Goat softened. "I'm sorry!" he said. "I can see how my actions made you see red. I never meant to cause any storm, Being silly and goofy is my art form." Hippo took a deep breath, he finally felt seen! He realized that Goat hadn't meant to be mean. His anger subsided, and he held out his hand, "I get it, sometimes things don't go as planned. Accidents happen, and we all make mistakes, And caring a lot really raises the stakes." Goat smiled, "You made me learn something new, Anger can deepen our friendships, too! Now I know what you care about. Together, I'm sure we'll figure things out."
